Town
The Town is rebuilt one plot at a time. Around its streets stand signboards: some mark a ruined house you can repair, others an empty plot where a shop can go up. Walk up to a signboard and press the interact key to see what can be built there. Building is instant: it takes no time and no energy, and the materials can come from your backpack or from shared chests in the same area.
None of this is in the demo. The signboards only appear as the story moves on, after the point where the demo ends at the bridge to the port.
Shops and houses
- Shops bring a trader to town. Each shop has three tiers: you build tier I on a free plot, then talk to the trader and choose Upgrade for tiers II and III. Every tier adds village reputation, more goods or larger stock, a larger weekly happiness allowance and new town orders. Shops come in two sizes: some need a house plot, others a yard plot.
- Houses are repairs. A repaired house gives Green Scrolls, from 1 for the small house to 25 for a block. The town’s houses give 180 in all.
In the game’s own words, “Town orders are the main source of” happiness. Orders are taken at the chalk board in the Town Warehouse on Pride day, and each shop offers two orders per tier, filled with supply boxes packed in the Factory.
Shops on house plots
8 shops share 7 house plots.
Shops on yard plots
5 shops share 4 yard plots.

Notes
- There are fewer plots than shops. The town has 7 house plots for 8 house-plot shops, and 4 yard plots for 5 yard-plot shops (counting the Pottery Workshop). Each shop can only be built once, and nothing in the game removes a shop, so one of each kind is left out. This comes from the game files and has not been checked in play.
- Repairing a house does not raise town quality or reputation by itself. It only gives Green Scrolls.
- Unconfirmed: in the current game files nothing unlocks the shops yet. All of them need to be unlocked, and the technologies that look like the ones for it (Market Stalls I and its follow-ups) unlock nothing in this build. The full release is expected to fill this in.
- Building never fails for lack of skill. There is no mastery check and no energy cost; the only requirement is the materials.
