Herm
Herm runs the store in the village. He is the second trader you meet, after Januarius in the tavern. He sells seeds and Bronze Scrap, and he is one of the few people in the demo who give you happiness for what you sell him.
At first he only sells Wheat seed and Bronze Scrap. Bronze Scrap is worth knowing about early: three of them smelt into two bronze ingots at the furnace, and one makes six bronze nails at an anvil. In the demo, Herm is the only trader who sells it. Otherwise you have to find it by breaking junk.
Expanding his store
Herm asks for samples of your farm produce in Planted and Delivered. Bring him 5 wheat. The quest text suggests buying 16–20 wheat seeds, but only the 5 wheat are checked. Completing it upgrades his store to the second tier: he adds vegetables, more kinds of seed, eggs and river fish fillets to his stock, and starts buying planks, clay plates and bricks. It also raises your village reputation by 5 and gives you a Town Gratitude.
Happiness from trading
Herm pays happiness for certain goods. The table below lists them: each item has a weekly limit and a value per item, and Herm has a weekly happiness cap. At the first tier only river fish fillets count, and the cap is 2 happiness a week. The second tier adds vegetables and raises the cap to 15.
Fractions add up across sales. You only receive a point when the running total passes a whole number, so selling a single vegetable (1/15 happiness) shows no reward until you have sold enough. The weekly count resets on Pride day, and also whenever his store is upgraded.
Shop
Stock is how many the trader keeps on hand; prices rise as it runs low. See Traders for how prices work.

Quests
Notes
- Seeds come in packs of at least 4. If he has fewer than 4 left, you cannot buy any until he restocks.
- He only buys what is on his list. Anything else in your backpack is greyed out in the trade window.
- His money is limited. He starts with 15 silver and earns 1 silver a day at the first tier. He cannot pay for a sale larger than what he has.
- Prices change with his stock. The fewer he has, the more he charges, and the more you have already sold him, the less he pays. Stock drifts back toward normal a little each day.
- Trading does not raise village reputation, despite what he says in Planted and Delivered. Only quests do.
- All happiness is capped by town quality, which is 10 in the demo. Happiness from Herm is lost once you are at the cap.
