Heffry and Jeffry

Heffry and Jeffry are twin brothers who live in Twins’ Land, over the bridge south of the village. They own a boat and a fishing rod, and Heffry calls Jeffry “the smart one”. They sell nothing, but they give you your first fishing rod, row Jack to the port and later teach you better bait. Almost every hand-in works with either twin.

Two Peas in a Pod

Two Peas in a Pod starts when you finish Supply and Demand by talking to Herm. His own The Quiet Art starts at the same time and sends you to the twins for a fishing rod.

  1. Cross the bridge into Twins’ Land. The twins are arguing: they sank their boat, and each says the other should have been rowing. Jeffry announces they are not brothers any more.
  2. Ask Heffry for the rod. He has no idea where it is and sends you after Jeffry, who has gone off towards the Hangman’s House.
  3. Talk to Jeffry. What sank with the boat was a load of pottery meant for Herm. Offer to make new pottery, and he goes back to his brother.
  4. Bring 6 Clay Plates to either twin. You get the Basic Rod, 5 village reputation, a Town Gratitude and a Story, and the rod step of Herm’s quest is done.

The plates are made at a Potter’s Wheel, 3 from every 2 Clay, and the clay comes from Riverside. The 5 reputation matters: together with Herm’s Planted and Delivered it makes the village reputation 10 that both Jack’s boat and Good Fellow ask for.

Jack in a Boat

When Jack needs a boat to reach the port, he builds it on the twins’ beach, and they are the ones who have to row. Ask them once you have village reputation 10; they only check it, nothing is taken. When Jack’s other parts are done too, the twins sail off with him the next time you sleep. See Jack for the whole quest.

Plenty of Fish in the Sea

After you win the first battle, the twins are back in Twins’ Land with a story about the biggest catfish ever, which they almost caught. The line was not strong enough, they say. Bring either of them 3 Flax Thread in Plenty of Fish in the Sea and they teach you the Fishing IV technology on the spot, with the recipes for the Pro Rod and Live Bait, plus a Town Gratitude and a Story. On the technology tree Fishing IV would cost 150 green.

The election and Press for Cash

When the village holds its first election, Januarius puts the twins up as the candidates (Election Fever). One of them wins, but nobody is sure which: Gunter announces Jeffry, Heffry replies “I’m Heffry”, and the village guards are still arguing about it later.

Congratulate Heffry afterwards and the twins explain that the village budget is empty and Januarius will not let them spend anything anyway. They ask you to “craft some money” and offer a mystery chest they pulled out of the river. That starts Press for Cash:

  1. Talk to Januarius in the tavern. The quest gives you the recipe for Printed Money.
  2. Bring Januarius 20 Printed Money. He gives you 10 Signed Printed Money, and his store moves up to its third tier.
  3. Give the 10 signed notes to the twins. They hand over the Mysterious Chest, which holds 20 Golden nuggets, 6 Golden ingots and 8 Gems, and you get 3 Town Gratitude.

Notes

  • Either twin will do. The pottery, the rowing, the fishing line and the signed money can go to Heffry or Jeffry. Only the congratulations that start Press for Cash are Heffry’s.
  • They have no reputation of their own. What you do for them counts toward the village reputation, which Herm and Januarius share.
