Basic Rod
The Basic Rod is your fishing rod in the demo. The twins give it to you with their thanks when you bring them six Clay Plates in Two Peas in a Pod. There is no other way to get one there: the Fishing I technology unlocks a recipe (3 Sticks, 2 Bronze Details and 2 Flax Thread), but the demo cannot make Flax Thread.
It has to be on your toolbar to fish. It also adds Farming mastery +1 from there, like any tool, and that one point is enough to fish at all, since fishing needs Farming 1.

Each item is studied once, on the Study Table. Studying does not use the item up. With the Scientist perk, a 30% chance of a Story.
Notes
- The Farming point counts everywhere, not only at the water: garden beds and cooking use it too, so the rod can stay on your toolbar next to your shovel.
- In the demo it catches only fish that bite without bait, because no bait can be made or bought there: Roach, Gudgeon and Crucian at the spots by your house and by the village.
- It never wears out.
