Riverside

Riverside is the river bank a short walk south-west of the yard of your house, just west of the Quarry. It is where Clay and Sand come from: one clay pit and two sand pits, dug with a shovel, each whole again the moment you empty it. No trader sells Sand at all, so every piece of Glass and Tin starts here.

What you can gather

What Needs Each dig or break gives Comes back
Clay pit Shovel, Building 2 4 Clay At once
Two sand pits Shovel, Building 3 4 Sand At once
Two rocks Pickaxe, Building 1 and 2 1 and 2 Stone, 2 red tech points No
A rhododendron bush Bare hands, Farming 1 2 to 4 Rhododendrons, sometimes a Firefly After about 20 minutes

Just outside grow three barberry bushes for Berries and two patches of Brown mushrooms, and a wild beehive for Honey stands a little further south.

What the clay and sand are for

Zombie diggers

The build desk here offers a Clay Digger Stand, a Sand Digger Stand and a Porter Station, each built from 2 Wooden Planks and 4 Iron Nails. A zombie with a shovel at a stand digs 1 Clay or 1 Sand per shift and puts it straight into a chest at Riverside, so build one there; the porter carries both to the Factory.

All three come with Zombie Digging (50 red, 10 blue), one of the technologies hidden until the cave in the Quarry and the mine passage under your house are open.

Notes

  • Digging clay and sand is Building work, not Farming. The shovel’s own bonus goes to Farming, so it does not help; your axe, pickaxe and Building talents do. The rusty axe and pickaxe give Building 2: enough for clay, one short for sand.
  • A digger zombie only needs a shovel. Its stand asks for mastery 1, which any shovel gives, even to a new zombie.
  • Two broken ladders stand between Riverside and the Quarry. Each is repaired with 4 Wooden Planks, 1 Bronze Detail and 4 Bronze Nails, with a hammer and Building 2. Where they lead is not confirmed from the game files.
