Reinforced Plank

A Reinforced Plank is an Oiled Plank bound with 2 Bronze Details, made on the Wooden Anvil. It is the last step before the barricades that the Head of the Guards asks for: each of the three kinds of barricade in the Barracks costs 2 Reinforced Planks, 6 Bronze Nails and 2 Short Logs.

The recipe comes from the Reinforced Plank technology (45 red). It cannot be bought until Herbert likes you enough: its parent is a reputation technology that needs 20 reputation with him, after Bronze Forge. Reputation technologies unlock by themselves, but only when you next open the technology tree, and the game does not tell you.

Notes

  • Reinforced Planks need Smithing mastery 4. The rusty hammer gives 1 and the first Smithing node 1; a bronze hammer on the hotbar adds the other 2.
  • How many you need depends on the mercenaries. The Barracks needs quality 12 and each barricade gives 2. With the mercenaries paid (8) two barricades are enough, which is 4 Reinforced Planks and 8 Bronze Details; without them it takes six barricades and 12 planks.
  • All three barricades cost the same and give the same quality, so for the quest it makes no difference which one you build.
