Short Log

A Short Log is half a Log. You saw one Log into 2 Short Logs on the Sawhorse, or dig out a tree stump with the shovel for 1 to 3 of them (stumps need Farming mastery 2 or, for the largest, 5). Unlike a Log, it fits in your backpack.

Short Logs are what the Chopping Spot works with: one Short Log becomes 10 Firewood or 10 Wood wedges. Firewood is the only fuel for the furnace, the kiln and the Distillation Cube, and Wood wedges are needed to split stone, so every furnace batch and every Piece of stone goes back to Short Logs.

Notes

  • The Chopping Spot itself is built from 2 Short Logs, so saw a couple before you buy Chopping.
  • Barricades need them too. Each of the three barricades in the Barracks takes 2 Short Logs besides the Reinforced Planks.
  • The Wooden Anvil is a Short Log and a Stone. So it can go up as soon as you buy Bronze Works.
