Log
A Log is what a tree drops when you cut it down with an axe. The trees around your home and the village give one or two Logs each, plus a few Sticks; the smallest young trees give only Sticks. The Axeman perk adds one or two Logs on most kinds of tree. Nothing in the demo sells Logs.
A Log is not a backpack item. You carry it over your head, one at a time, and take it to the Sawhorse in your yard. There one Log becomes 4 Boards or 2 Short Logs. Everything made of wood in the demo starts with one of those two.

Notes
- Picking up a second Log drops the first. You can only carry one thing over your head, so a felled tree with two Logs means two trips to the Sawhorse.
- Decide Boards or Short Logs when you saw. Boards lead to Wooden Planks; Short Logs lead to Firewood and Wood wedges at the Chopping Spot, and three kinds of barricade need them too.
- Stumps give Short Logs without sawing, once your Farming is high enough. A felled tree leaves a stump that you dig out with the shovel. Smaller stumps need Farming mastery 2 and give 1 or 2 Short Logs; the largest need 5 and give 3. The rusty shovel alone gives Farming 1.
- There is one free Log at the start, in the Timber stockpile in your yard.
