Circular Saw

The Circular Saw cuts a Log straight into finished timber. It is the only place that makes Wooden beams, and it also saws a log into 4 Wooden Planks, 4 Boards or 3 Short Logs. It comes with the Circular Saw technology (35 red, 10 green) and costs 10 Wooden Planks, 2 Bronze Gears and 10 Iron Nails. It stands in your yard.

The technology sits behind 40 reputation with Jack, which comes with his iron order in Workshop Hours. All five ways into the factory under your house are blocked by rubble that takes a Reinforced Beam to clear. That beam is made from an Oiled Beam, and the Oiled Beam from Wooden beams sawn here. So the factory stays shut until Jack has his iron.

Notes

  • Wooden Planks straight from a log save a whole step. At the Sawhorse a log becomes 4 Boards, and each Board is then planed into one Plank at the woodworking bench. Here the log becomes 4 Planks in one go.
  • The three plain cuts need no technology. Only the beam comes with the Circular Saw technology. The planks, Boards and Short Logs are there as soon as the saw is built.
  • You also need Iron Nails and Bronze Gears to build it, and both are forged at the Iron Anvil.
  • Mastery: Boards and Short Logs Building 3, Planks 4, beams 6.
  • The Carpenter perk adds 2 to each cut (1 to beams). It goes by whoever works the saw, so a zombie working it gets the plain amount.
  • Dismantling it returns half the materials: 5 Wooden Planks, 1 Bronze Gear and 5 Iron Nails.
