Sawhorse

The Sawhorse is the first workbench you get. The Concept of Wood is given to you free the first time you wake up at home, and it unlocks the Sawhorse and both of its recipes: a Log becomes 4 Boards or 2 Short Logs. Everything wooden in the demo starts here.

It costs 2 Boards and 4 Sticks and goes in your yard. You cannot saw your first Boards before you have one, so take the 2 Boards from the Simple Chest in the yard, or break the broken barrels in the yard and garden (1 or 2 Boards each). Sticks drop from every tree and bush you cut.

Notes

  • Both recipes need only Building mastery 1, which your rusty axe alone gives. Each swing costs 2 energy for Boards and 3 for Short Logs.
  • Logs are carried over your head, one at a time, and the Sawhorse can only stand in the yard, so every Log is a trip back to the yard.
  • Sawing gives a red tech point every time, so it is also an easy way to earn red for your first technologies.
