Kitchen I

The Kitchen I is the Factory’s packing line for food. It fills supply crates for the town: Supply: Vegetables from carrots, beets, cabbages, onions or pumpkins in an empty Crate, Supply: Beer from 12 Beer, Supply: Wine from wine, and with extensions Supply: Flour Sack and Supply: Preserves I. It is a Farming workbench on the Farming page of the tree: it comes with Vegetable Supplies (120 green, 25 blue, after Zombie Gardening) and costs 6 Reinforced Planks, 4 Bronze Gears and 4 Bronze Details at the factory’s build desk.

Like the other factory workbenches it is worked by a zombie with materials from the belts, not by you.

Notes

  • Better vegetables fill a crate with fewer. A vegetable crate takes 16 carrots or 12 beets, but only 10, 8 or 6 cabbages and 8, 6 or 4 onions by star, and 3, 2 or 1 pumpkins. The same goes for wine: 8, 6 or 4 bottles.
  • Each kind of crate has its own technology. Vegetable Supplies covers every vegetable crate; beer comes with Brewing, wine with Winemaking, flour with Flour Supplies (130 green, 20 blue) and preserves with Preservation Supplies (140 green, 25 blue).
  • Its extensions: the Millstone for flour (16 Wheat and 2 Fabric a sack) and the Sealing Machine for preserves, which also need Glass Containers from the Smithy I. Both go on the Kitchen’s one small extension spot, so a Kitchen has one or the other. The Stove cannot be built: no technology unlocks it, and no recipe needs it.
  • Beer and wine reach it through the vineyard cellar. The cellar’s Porter Station carries them to the factory’s drinks pallet.
  • Mastery: Farming 3 for vegetables and beer, 4 for flour, 5 for wine, 6 for preserves. A shovel in the zombie’s hand gives it 1 to 6 Farming.
  • Kitchen II keeps all of this and adds onion and pumpkin preserves.
  • Taking it down returns everything it cost.
