Vegetable salad
Vegetable salad is the demo’s one food that raises your Anatomy mastery. Eating it gives Anatomy +1, +2 or +3 depending on its stars, for 7:30 (one in-game day), along with 15, 20 or 25 energy. In the demo, Anatomy otherwise only comes from the talent tree, and it starts at 0, so the salad is what lets you start removing organs early.
You make it by hand at the Kitchen Table from 2 Onions of any grade, 2 Carrots and 2 Beets; one go gives 2 salads, 4 with the Cook perk. The recipe comes with the Vegetable dishes technology, a reward for Planted and Delivered. The same quest opens Herm’s second tier, where all three vegetables are for sale.

Notes
- Salads of different stars add up. Each star level is its own effect, so a 1-, a 2- and a 3-star salad eaten together give Anatomy +6. Eating a second salad of the same stars only restarts its timer.
- Stars depend on your Farming mastery. The salad has 7 steps: 1 successful step gives 1 star, 4 give 2 stars, 7 give 3. At Farming 4 every step succeeds; below it each step only has a chance. Onions of 2 or 3 stars count as steps already done.
- What the bonus unlocks. The skin, bones and skull of demo corpses need Anatomy 1, 2 and 3 to remove, so a 3-star salad covers all three for a day. You still need the Skin and Bones and Skull and Teeth technologies to see those organs.
- The timer keeps running while you sleep, and a night’s sleep fast-forwards the world, so eat it after you wake up.
- Studying one costs 2, 3 or 10 Science (by stars) and gives 5–20 green and 5–10 blue.
