Farming Fertilizer I
Farming Fertilizer I raises a garden bed’s growing skill by 2, which is the first real step up from Peat’s 1. 2 Peat and a Weak growth elixir make one, with Anatomy 2, once you have Fertilizers II (30 green, 10 blue). You make it at the Formulation Bench, which uses Anatomy mastery, not Farming; the Compost Chemist perk doubles each batch.
A bed’s skill decides how many of its growing steps succeed, and how fast it grows once the skill reaches the crop’s requirement (see Farming). On a garden bed at the start, +2 doubles the skill from 2 to 4: an ★1 Cabbage then succeeds on half its growing steps instead of a quarter.

Notes
- Put it in before planting. Fertilizer can only go on an empty bed.
- It stays on the bed. A harvest does not use it up; it only goes when you put a different fertilizer in its slot. Unconfirmed: this follows from the game’s code and has not been checked in play.
- Its name counts the fertilizers you can make, not its strength. The game calls the +2 one I, the +3 one II and the +5 one III.
- Studying one costs 2 Science and gives 30 green and 5 blue.
