Brother Bishop

Brother Bishop leads a small order of monks in the Royal Foundry, under the old bathhouse in the north of the town. The furnace that once heated the baths now smelts the finest steel in the land: the monks pray to its spirit and have studied every book on metallurgy they could find. He knew Keeper One, “my friend”, and recognises at once that you are not him. He is one of the six who took the magic portal away from the palace, and he has the magic mirror that finds its fragments.

Reaching the foundry

The only way in is through the water tunnel by the ship lock. Herbert plans the attack: close the western floodgate, then fight through the eastern floodgate, and finally Break Through to the Bathhouse Basement from the sewer camp. When that battle is won you walk in on the monks at prayer. The bathhouse waystone is marked for you, so you can come back quickly.

Steel

Ask him about the furnace in Man of Steel, which starts with Jack’s hunt for good steel. From then on he sells Steel Ingots in batches of 1, 10, 50 or 100, at 1 silver each. This is not a trade window: you pick the amount in the conversation and the money is taken on the spot.

The magic mirror

If you have already asked Gunter about the portal, you can ask the Bishop too (Magic Mirror). The story he tells: the Keeper’s wife wished to become a queen and moved into the palace with the portal. Everyone started abusing it, so six of them activated it one last time and stole it away. He broke it into seven pieces and scattered them among different people. He also took a magic mirror from her, and the mirror shows where the next fragment is.

He asks one favour for it: 3 Zombie Power, a compact labour force for the brothers. It is made in your factory’s Bioreactor, 5 wheat each. He gives you the Sloth fragment and lends you the mirror. Your first question shows the second fragment “in the home of your friend… the poet, Vagner”, which is Gunter.

The Lord’s Vintage

One of the monks has never been to the town and wonders whether they have wine there; Brother Bishop told them good wine brings you closer to God. The Lord’s Vintage asks for 2 Wine of the best quality (★★★). The monk offers a sword in return, but what you actually get is 3 Town Gratitude.
