Rusty Hammer
The Rusty Hammer is in the chest in the graveyard, with the Rusty Shovel. You will use it constantly: every building you place starts as a construction site, and you build it by hitting it with a hammer. It also smashes the pots cluttering the church.
On your toolbar it adds Smithing mastery +1, which the furnace, the anvil and loading a firewood shed need. It is the only source of Smithing at the start, since every branch begins at 0.

Each item is studied once, on the Study Table. Studying does not use the item up. With the Scientist perk, a 30% chance of a Story.
Notes
- Building with a hammer is a Building job, not Smithing. Construction sites need Building mastery 2, which your axe and pickaxe provide; the hammer only has to be on your toolbar to hit them.
- The Bronze Hammer adds 2 Smithing, which is what Bronze Details need.
