The Morgue

The morgue is where corpses wait until you deal with them, and where you cut them up on the autopsy table. Its entrance is between your house and the graveyard. The number of bodies it can hold is shown as bodies / capacity when you are inside.

Capacity

The morgue’s capacity is its quality, and only a few things add to it:

Object Capacity
Autopsy Table I (there at the start) 1
Corpse Pallet I: 4 Boards and 4 Bronze Nails 1 each
Crematorium I: 6 Bricks and 6 Bronze Details 1

So at the start the morgue holds one body, and the donkey skips his delivery while it is full. The Corpse Pallet comes with the autopsy technology the story gives you, so it is the first thing to build here.

The broken door

The morgue’s front door is broken. Until it is repaired, the donkey leaves bodies outside at the Corpse Dumping Point and you carry them in yourself. The repair needs an Iron Detail and 3 Oiled Planks.

In the demo the door cannot be repaired. Iron Details have no recipe you can unlock, and the traders who sell them are in parts of the town the demo does not reach. So in the demo every body is left outside, and a Corpse Pallet only adds capacity; the donkey never puts bodies on it.

The blockage inside the morgue needs the same parts, so it stays in place in the demo as well.

Notes

  • Bodies outside can disappear. A body left lying on the ground vanishes after enough time off screen, and you get nothing for it. It does free its space in the morgue, though.
  • Only burying, burning or dumping a body in the river frees its space. Taking organs out does not.
  • Resurrection Tables are built from the morgue’s build desk too. See Zombies.
