Corpse Pallet I

A Corpse Pallet I is a rack in the morgue that holds one corpse and raises the morgue’s capacity by one. The donkey only brings a body when the morgue has room, and at the start it holds just one, so pallets are how you take in more bodies at a time. It costs 4 Boards and 4 Bronze Nails and comes with Autopsy, Basic, which the story gives you when you lay your first body on the autopsy table.

You place it on the morgue floor from the morgue’s build desk and build it with a hammer, which is Building work at mastery 2; finishing it gives 1 red and 1 blue tech point. To use it, carry a corpse to it and interact to lay it down; interact again with nothing over your head to pick it back up.

Notes

  • The capacity is what counts, not where the body lies. Until the morgue’s front door is repaired, the donkey leaves every body outside and never uses the pallets; the pallet still lets him bring one more.
  • Once the door is repaired, the donkey lays each new body on a free pallet, and only leaves it on the floor when every pallet is full.
  • A body on a pallet never rots away. Bodies left on the ground disappear after a while; bodies on a pallet or on the autopsy table do not.
  • Zombie bodies do not go on it, only ordinary corpses.
  • You can build as many as the floor has room for; nothing in the files limits the number.
  • Corpse Pallet II holds two bodies and adds 2 capacity.
