The Church

The church is the ruined temple of an ancient god that stands at your graveyard. Once it is working, you hold a sermon there every week, and sermons are the only source of Faith. Its door is in the graveyard, and it is locked at the start.

It opens when Agatha, the Nun, goes to the church in Holy Moly!. She wants church quality 10 before the first sermon.

Church quality

Church quality is the total quality of everything inside, and it sets how many parishioners a sermon can seat. The church starts full of junk that counts against it:

That is about −33 at the start. With everything cleared the church is at +1, and three Interior Bench I (+3 each) bring it to 10.

Every piece of furniture has its own kind of spot, and each spot takes one piece: 6 bench spots, 2 confession spots, 2 shrine spots, 4 candle spots and 4 incense spots. The desk also offers Improve the Church I for 8 Boards and 6 Pieces of stone. It rebuilds part of the ruin but adds no quality and no spots; the second and third improvements add two candle spots each, and the third four more shrine spots. The better furniture, candles and incense on the desk belong to later technologies, Church Lighting I onward.
