Rusty Sword
No known way to obtain it. The game's data has no way to get it.
The Rusty Sword is the weakest sword, 4 damage a swing, but any sword opens the way into battle: you cannot start one without a sword and armor on your hotbar (see Combat). The defence in chapter 3 asks for it on your hotbar.
Unconfirmed: where it comes from. No recipe, trader, chest or script in the game files gives it. The chapter 3 story must hand it over; most likely it waits in a part of the workshop that the files here do not cover.

Each item is studied once, on the Study Table. Studying does not use the item up. With the Scientist perk, a 30% chance of a Story.

- The Bronze Sword is the first you can make or buy, at 5 damage.
- The town Smithy buys it but never sells it.
- Studying it costs 2 Science and gives 10 red.
