Rusty Axe

The Rusty Axe is the tool you pick up in the prologue to hack through a barricade. From then on it is your woodcutting tool: an axe fells trees and breaks up broken barrels and shelves.

Like every tool it adds to your mastery just by being on your toolbar: Building mastery +1. That matters more than it sounds, because most of your early work is Building. The Rusty Axe and the Rusty Pickaxe together give Building 2, enough for Boards, Wooden Planks and Clay Plates and for clearing broken barrels and junk.

  • Not every tree is a Building job. Four kinds of old tree count as Farming, so the axe’s bonus does nothing for them.
  • The Bronze Axe adds 2. Neither axe wears out.
