Gardener Stand
A Gardener Stand is the post for a zombie gardener. Put a zombie with a shovel in it, and it plants and harvests the beds of its garden by itself, but only beds that have a crop tablet telling it what to grow. The same stand comes in two versions: one for the garden’s vegetable beds, with Zombie Gardening (60 green, 20 blue), and one for the vineyard’s trellises, with Zombie Vineyard (150 green, 50 blue). Either costs 4 Wooden Planks, 2 Bronze Details and 6 Bronze Nails; the garden and the vineyard each have two spots for a stand.
How a gardener works
- An empty bed with a tablet next to it puts out a planting order. The gardener takes 4 seeds of that crop from an open chest in the garden, instantly, walks to the bed and plants it.
- The bed grows by itself, like any bed.
- When it is ripe, the bed puts out a harvest order. The gardener picks it, strike by strike, then carries the crop back and stores it in the garden’s open chests.
Notes
- The gardener must hold a shovel. Take it away and it stops at once and goes back to its stand. The shovel also gives it the Farming mastery for harvesting.
- Keep seeds in an open chest in the garden, not in the Garden Storage sacks, which only take crops.
- Once a gardener has taken a bed’s order, you cannot plant or fertilize that bed yourself.
- If there is nowhere to store the harvest, the gardener stands with a “no room” sign over its head until you make space.
- With two gardeners, the one with more Farming mastery takes the harvests; planting orders come first for both.
- Taking a stand down gives everything back.
