Red Eye
The Red Eye belongs to the Old God. You dig it up at the base after a dream, and showing it, without handing it over, opens his lair in Friend or Foe. There he asks for it back, and whether you give it or keep it decides which way the story ends: giving it back sets you on the light path, keeping it on the dark one.
If you keep it, the Old God gives you one more chance later: once all six gifts for the palace are delivered, you can still hand it back, until the final battle comes into view.

- Giving it up is final. Handing it over takes it from your backpack.
- It cannot be destroyed, so you cannot lose it by accident; it leaves your backpack only when you hand it over.
